Overview

The Quicksilver Model MXLI is an ultralight aircraft owned by Quicksilver Aircraft. It has a 45-horsepower engine and 3-axis control surfaces that enhance stability in turbulent conditions. It can carry up to 125 kilograms and seats one passenger. During the Oregon Transect Ecosystem Research (OTTER) project, the aircraft was equipped with instruments to capture low-altitude reflectance and video of research sites, allowing ground measurements to be scaled to satellite observations.
